Vana J. Plaisance

Vana J. Plaisance explores the emotional landscape of her childhood and adolescence in the memoir Recalling My Beginnings: The Kentucky Years (Xulon Press 2014). In addition, four of her writings are included in Writers Guild of Acadiana Anthology of Creative Writing Competition Winners 2021-2023. Two of her poems are included in A Treasury of Louisiana Writers, Volume 2 (2025).

As a former newspaper journalist, she is the recipient of a Louisiana Media Award (1989), as well as several first place awards from the Louisiana Press Association. Vana Plaisance also edited and published her grandfather's book, The Plowboy: Words of Faith and Encouragement by Patrick Martin Williams, Jr. (Xulon Press 2007, 2022). She has taught English for twenty-five years.
