Francis J. Plaisance

Francis J. Plaisance has two of his writings included in A Treasury of Louisiana Writers, Volume 2. They are "A South Louisiana Ghost Story" and "A Walk Through Heaven." He won the “What I Want To Be and Why” essay contest, sponsored by Abbeville Rotary Club, as a high school senior in 1966. He has served as an Abbeville City Councilman for seventeen years. In addition, he retired from the State of Louisiana after twenty-five years of service, mainly as a social worker. Francis J. Plaisance served as president of the Louisiana Cattle Festival for twenty-one years. He is the recipient of several honors, including a VFW Community Service Award (2016) and American Legion Citizen of the Year (2013). He holds a B.A. in History degree from U.S.L. He is also an ordained Church of Christ minister. Francis Plaisance is married to Vana J. Plaisance.
