Old Business

Prompt for October: Fiction: I was going to, but I changed my mind.
Does anyone wish to present a workshop next year? Ask members also.
Logo refresh. Not much progress here. Thus, no new tote bags.
Andre said he may try his hand, and ask fellow artists also. A target date of November 1 was offered.
Ed Gauthier, secretary, unavailable for August and September meets.
Andre suggested a weekend (or at least daytime) mixer for members who cannot make night meetings. I suggested that Ed check with (the former Johnson Street Java) Jet Coffee for a location, though there are likely other places that may agree to host us. Not a sales event.
The board was agreeable, and a brunch time frame such as 9-1 open house style was agreed to, but someone still needs to contact a venue. Toasted Yolk was suggested.
We should try to get more air time on TV/Radio/AOC.
New Business
Thomas Smith speaker, and Grant writer will spend the day September 29 with Beth Davis and John Comeaux to prepare for a grant proposal for 2027. Then he will be our guest speaker for September. John will take him and spouse to lunch and dinner.
A place and time needs to be agreed upon.
Be at the Acadiana Cener for the Arts on Saturday Aug 29 at 6 p.m. for “Opening Notes” a welcome reception for students and faculty of the College of the Arts at UL Lafayette. RSVP
Andre volunteered to represent WGA at this event; he is a member of ACA.
Nominations for Board of Directors will open in October, with voting and installation in November.
Treasury Volume 3 submissions will be accepted through October 1, extending the deadline to welcome additional stories.
John will send a blurb to Jade for publicity.
We should mention that members can publicize their books in the newsletter and on the website.
A motion was approved to move the November meeting to Nov. 17 instead of the last week, to avoid Thanksgiving conflicts. Announcements need to be made.
The board approved up to $75.00 for a gift basket at the Mistletoe market at Heymann center that Jade and Beth will attend, offering the Treasury Vol 1 and 2 for sale and as a prize in the basket.
